Ooh, it's a match made house heaven, as new Chicago kid on the block Tevo Howard hooks up with Everything But the Girl's Tracey Thorn! We know that he can produce a nice bit of deep house from excellent releases on Hour House Is Your Rush, and his own Beautiful Granville imprint. We also know that Tracey's mournful vocal works a treat with house music (witness the multi-million seller "Missing"). "Without Me" combines the two, mixing a driving electronic rhythm and simple piano chords with Tracey's intimate lyricism. Marcus Worgull is on hand to supply a bit of bounce to the track, a mix which somewhere along the line has been re-edited by Innervisions man Dixon. Featuring a much warmer sound, and a lot less Tracey, this is a great dub. There's also a 'Reprise', or augmented acapella - lovely.
